Carnage Across Brooklyn with The Browning
Electronicacore was considered a massive fad 10 years ago, with an extensive roster of bands that included bands such as Attack! Attack!, Arsonist’s Get All the Girls, Abandon All Ships, I Set my Friends on Fire, Asking Alexandria & I See Stars. The genre was ushered in another phase of metalcore but sadly that’s long been forgotten at this point. The Browning returns to New York City to show that this genre IS alive and well in 2019. Under their belt The Browning has toured with major acts like Fear Factory, Chimaria, Shadows Fall & Chelsea Grin! They are truly a forced to be reckoned with in the underground world of heavy music but with their mixes of EDM & Electronica they come out to be one of the most diverse acts in the deathcore genre. With their newest album “Giest” finally out, it’s great to see the band back out on the road. Joining them as support are Betraying the Martyrs and Extortionist. If you’re looking to hear some super heavy breakdowns and a few nice electronica samples that give you a small feeling of being in a night club, don’t miss out on the “Carnage Across America” tour!
The Browning is able to mix style and substance so well when it comes to their music, with plenty of heavy breakdowns to keep hardcore mosh fans and headbangers on their toes. The electronica samples blend together very well and it truly never feels like it’s out of place during their set. It’s almost like you’re seeing a Deadmau5 concert while blistering guitars echo in the venue. Don’t forget the massive light show that really matches the feeling of an EDM show. The band truly urged people to party and have a fantastic time. Vocalist, Jonny McBee lashes out many screams of agony to the audience throughout the whole night. These scowls are extremely top notch and rectify the sound the band has built upon. The Browning had a setlist that featured great new tracks like “Sick Minds”, “Final Breath”, and “Noctis”. It was definitely a set that really focused on the newer tracks from The Browning, but they really made their mark to the audience that they are here to stay.
Alongside groups such as Gojira & Ad Inferna, Betraying the Martyrs is a band that’s flying the flag for heavy music out of France. In the deathcore scene especially, they’re definitely one of the most popular bands in the genre to come out of the country. These guys are also prepared to drop new music, with their latest single “Eternal Machine” releasing last month! Betraying the Martyrs combination of eccentric deathcore riff passages and unholy symphonic melodies give this an identity that was truly fit for this tour. Vocalist Aaron Matts provides some extremely frenzied screams and fantastic lows upon the audience. While clean vocalist and keyboardist Victor Guillet brings out some nice clean vocals and a very fun keyboard section that gives the band a lot of personality. The setlist from Betraying the Martyrs was heavily focused on their 2017 album The Resilient with hits like “Lost for Words”, “Ghost” & “Unregistered”. BTM is a band that’s heavily set to gain some new fans and will totally bring in many older ones on this tour!
Extortionist is an extremely heavy opener that adds to the variety that this tour will truly get. Liam Geary of the band Degrader is filling for Extortionist. As original vocalist Ben Hoagland tonsil’s were not healed fully for him to scream. But, Liam’s voice is a great for Extortionist . Extremely heavy scowls and fantastic shrieks truly make his vocals. The breakdowns really make their live sound that’ll really get you in the mood to mosh. If you’re looking to see one of the smaller deathcore bands that is truly doing its best to stay ahead of the pack. Extortionist will really satisfy that need.
The Browning made sure that they would shock & awe many of their hardcore fans tonight in Brooklyn. Brining along one of France’s most well respected acts and one of the finest underground bands in metalcore assures you that you’re going to draw a crowd.
