Legendary guitarist and co-founder of Van Halen has passed away after a long battle with throat cancer.
According to TMZ, sources directly connected to the rock star say he died at St. Johns Hospital in Santa Monica Tuesday. His wife, Janie, along with sons Wolfgang and Alex, Eddie’s brother and drummer were by his side.
Eddie’s ongoing health battle went downhill after the last 72 hours according to TMZ sources. Doctors discovered his throat cancer had moved to his brain as well as other organs.
Eddie had been battling cancer for over a decade. TMZ sources say he’s been in and out of the hospital over the past year, including last November for intestinal complications and recently underwent a round of chemotherapy.
His son, Wolfgang Van Halen, confirmed the news earlier today, October 6th:
It was reported last year that Eddie was flying between the U.S. and Germany for 5 years for radiation treatment. Bloodlines sends our deepest and heartfelt condolences to his wife and sons, family and fans. Source – https://www.tmz.com/2020/10/06/eddie-van-halen-dead-dies-cancer-65/
