Sam Ash Billy Sheehan Bass Clinic 4/11/14
Samson Tech. and the amazing Larry Hartke of Hartke amplifications held a Sam Ash bass clinic with Billy Sheehan that was easily one of the best clinics I have ever experienced. In the forty years of being a student and master of the music business, Mr. Sheehan overwhelmingly took the wheel of his clinic and brought it to new heights. I personally have attended Frank Bello of Anthrax, Dave Ellefson of Megadeth and Rex Brown currently of Kill Devil Hill and formerly of Pantera. All of those clinics were not only informative, but entertaining to watch. However, compared to Billy, his clinic was much more engaging with the audience. Many questions came from fans stretching from his current band, The Winery Dogs, to Talas, David Lee Roth, Mr. Big, Steve Vai and his new interests in music with discovering current musical interests in Periphery and Tosin Abasi of Animals as Leaders. Sheehan discussed his love for Hartke amps while performing many licks off his trademark Yamaha while the capacity of 75+ watched and learned from the boss himself. I had the honor to meet Billy and get one of my favorite photos of him autographed in a massive 11×14 black & white photo I shot at Manhattan’s Gramercy Theatre for Metal Masters 4 back in 2012. It was a long time coming but it was worth it. All the fans got photos and pictures signed by Billy after the clinic as well. Hartke has truly turned the Sam Ash store in Manhattan into a one of a kind bass lounge that is attracting newcomers and legends far and wide. Now, if he can only bring John Moyer of Adrenaline Mob 😀 or Piggy D of Rob Zombie. My apologies, but I can dream too. If you ever get a chance to come to New York City, go to Sam Ash Music store on 333 W 34th St, New York, NY 10001.
See you rockers on the flip side!
