Valentine’s Colour 2/14/15

Living ColourGone is the first time witnessing Living Colour, ironically on their “Black Friday” edition show, as coined by lead singer Corey Glover for performing the day after Thanksgiving literally four months ago. We step out of Irving Plaza and venture back to the home grounds of Brooklyn, NY. With Unlocking The Truth opening the show, Living Colour was primed to bring a solid audience, along with the venue’s roof, down to the ground. Playing an almost two hour performance with solo’s from Doug Wimbish and Will Calhoun, the show ended on a perfect flow with a cover of CREAM with Alex Skolnick, guitarist for the band Testament, performing “Sunshine of Your Love.” Speaking of special appearances, Wallace Roney, who plays alongside Will in his jazz ensembles, guessed starred on stage to play Solace of You alongside the crew. Corey’s ability to surprise kept us constantly on our feet as he began walking on thin walkways and towards the crowd during the show. He never kept the show just on the stage. The band wrapped up their set consisting of all the appropriate material you would expect from Living Colour and an atmosphere that compelled a packed house to shut the hell up and pay attention. Speaking of paying attention, Doug brought out his 11 year old protege he has been training on guitar since the age of EIGHT. This kid RIPPED the time he had on stage. Be on the look out for him, his name is Brandon Niederauer. Check out the set-list and photos below of the Valentine’s night.
